    Directions for finishing wood surfaces:

Sand the wood surface evenly with 120 grit sandpaper and remove any dust. Stir the linseed oil as you dilute with 30% oil thinner. Apply a generous coat of linseed oil with a brush, cotton rag, or stain applicator. Wait 20 mins. Remove excess/ remaining oil with a clean rag. Apply 3 coats but allow each coat to dry before applying the next. The first coat will take 12 hours to dry and the second and third coats will require 24 hours to dry. For a smoother finish, sand the surface lightly between each coat with 800-grit sandpaper. Wait at least 14 days before the first cleaning.

Directions for sealing Concrete, slate, and clay:

The application is the same as for wood, described above. The number of coats required may vary depending on how porous your surface is.

    Directions for making oil paints:

Pour 2-3 tablespoons of linseed oil into a bowl and add Terrachrom pigment, a bit at a time, until doughy paste forms. Continue to add more oil until the mixture reaches the consistency required. If required, add solvent (oil thinner) until the paint reaches your desired consistency. If required, pour the finished mixture through a strainer to remove lumps.

How to make a basic oil glaze:

Oil glazes can be applied over flour or milk paints to increase water resistance. Oil glazes also make beautiful wood stains, with or without added color. This method makes about 2 cups of glaze.

Dissolve 1 tsp each of Terrachrom pigment and Terrachrom whiting powder in 1/2 cup of linseed oil. Mix in an additional 1/2 cup of linseed oil. Add 2/3 cup of natural solvent and 2 tbsp of whiting powder, whisking, or straining to remove lumps. Apply to clean and dry surface and let dry.
